The amount is the largest thing on the screen, in figures that line up so a 7 never looks like a 1. Keys are 56 points tall with a lip you can feel, so a thumb knows it landed without looking, wet or greasy.
The ledge sits low while you sell, so goods and the running total get the room. It rises when you take payment, and sits at the bottom of the customer's own screen, where the staff side simply isn't there.
Cash shows Change Due at full size and slides the drawer. MoMo and card each show whose move it is. If a reader or a network goes quiet, the sale is Unknown and the till refuses to charge twice.
It stays paper in every mode, because it is paper. It feeds out in steps the way a thermal head prints, and tears on a zigzag. Email, QR and on-screen receipts are included; WhatsApp and SMS are at the message price, by consent.
The till speaks English, Twi, Ga, Ewe or Hausa, cashier by cashier. Goods can be found by the spelling people really use.

A price change, a void, a no-sale drawer and a refund each ask for the right person or a recorded reason. A cashier can do the job without being able to undo it.
